What We Do 

‘It was great to work with Rob and the team at BEC Construction on the new Autistic Unit at Canterbury Academy. We have worked with BEC for many years and had many successful projects. Nothing is too much trouble and their communication skills are excellent. A special mention to Andy Louch the site manager and Phil Gardiner the contracts manager, who drove the project forward. ‘The timeline for getting the building open was extremely tight and there were some concerns raised at Trust leadership and Board level around whether it would be kept to. However, much to everyone’s relief and delight, the building was operational for the start of the September term. This was only due to the additional personnel that were put into the project and their commitment to working ‘after hours’ and weekends. Something that all the staff and our students will remain extremely grateful for.

It is wonderful to have such an impressive, light and modern building. The temperatures in each classroom are perfect for the children to be able to focus on their learning. This is a result of the way that the building was designed and constructed. We, as a trust were involved right from the outset, to make sure we were happy with this particular aspect of the design, along with many others.

In addition to the scheduled weekly meeting with BEC, the school site and facilities manager was in daily contact with BEC’s Site manager. Communication was excellent, furthermore, BEC were rigorous in their adherence and compliance with all school procedures and rules. Their daily briefings constantly referred to these and reminded site workers of expectations.

As a final endorsement for BEC and the regard with which we have for their work, we have nominated them as part of a future condition improvement fund bid. If the bid is successful, we will work with them to design, implement and complete another successful building project on our school site.

BEC were appointed as lead contractor following a successful tender bid for the residential development of 5No. Town houses 4No. Mews houses and 8 No. Flats in Whitstable, Kent.

We were extremely impressed with BEC’s professionalism, quality and workmanship throughout the contract. Their team was easy to communicate with, thorough and their commitment displayed to the project as a whole was outstanding.

We were informed of all decision making on site and was impressed with their progress, even during the pandemic, where they quickly adapting to new working protocols ensuring safe social distancing between the trades.

We believe this firm to be a very capable contractor, and would have no reservations in recommending them for future work. 

‘BEC completed an extension and renovation project at Hartley House Care Home in October.

 The project went smoothly and was also on budget, we were very happy with the standards of communications and commitment to the project. Their timelines were accurate and clearly explained during progress meetings. 

I found the company to be well managed and generally receptive to changes. Several changes to the scope of works were changed towards the end of the job, and these were dealt with efficiently and professionally. There have been many favourable comments about the finished product and minor snagging issues have been addressed and resolved quickly.

The works were completed around a running care home, this required extra work with regard to fire assessment, exits, planning of work etc. All of which was handled well and we were able to keep staff and residents happy throughout the process. 

I would have no hesitation in recommending BEC for similar projects and would happily work with them again.

‘BEC Construction has now successfully completed the construction of the estate office for Chatham Maritime trust. 

Working with BEC on this project has been a pleasure and we have found that BEC were cooperative and helpful during the construction process, with minimal contractual dialogue necessary to get the project completed.

We have had 2 BEC project managers working on the site during the course of the works and both have proved excellent in their coordination of the works and ensuring maintenance of the works programme. The final quality of building work provided was outstanding both inside and outside with minimal snagging required to finalise the building for handover. I would like to add that we experienced zero health and safety issues throughout the build and I commend the site management for this achievement.
